For families relocating to Bali, one of the biggest and most important decisions is choosing the right school.
In this exclusive conversation, Simone Collins, founder of Our Year in Bali, sat down with Angie Stead, Director of ProEd Global School, to discuss the future of education in Bali, personalized learning, and the exciting evolution of ProEd Global School following its partnership with Genius Group.
In September 2025, ProEd Global School officially partnered with Genius Group, which became a part-owner of the school. While ProEd continues to deliver its established Cambridge and ASDAN curriculum pathways, the partnership marks a new chapter focused on future-ready learning, entrepreneurship, innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI).
One of the biggest announcements shared during the interview was the launch of the new ProEd Global x Genius scholarship programme. The initiative reflects the school’s broader vision of combining Cambridge academic excellence with AI-powered entrepreneurial education, helping students prepare not only for exams but for the future world of work, innovation, and leadership.

ProEd Global School x Genius is proud to offer three transformative scholarships
For the first time ever there will be 12 full scholarships covering 100% of tuition fees, alongside 30 partial scholarships offering 25% tuition support across both the Umalas and Nuanu campuses, for students ages 3- 18. They encourage families already living in Bali and those planning to relocate.
The discussion with Angie explored how this scholarship vision connects directly with the school’s wider philosophy of personalized learning, future-ready education, entrepreneurship, and helping every child discover their unique strengths.
Together, ProEd and Genius Group share a vision of preparing students for a rapidly changing world while maintaining strong academic foundations and pathways to leading universities worldwide.
The discussion also explored individualized education, the future of learning in Bali, and the upcoming Genius City high school development across the ProEd Global campuses in Umalas and Nuanu.

Meet Angie Stead: A Lifetime in Education
Angie Stead’s journey into education began decades ago in the UK.
Originally working in business, finance, computer programming, and architecture, Angie discovered her true passion after becoming a mother.
“I realised there was nothing more important than giving our children the very best start in life,” Angie shared.
That realization led her into early childhood education, eventually growing into leadership positions, business ownership, and international education development.
After moving to New Zealand and building successful education businesses, Angie became part of the Genius Group entrepreneurial community led by Roger Hamilton.
Through that journey, she became deeply aligned with the Genius vision: “Every child has unique strengths, and education should help ignite their individual genius.”
Today, Angie describes her work at ProEd Global as her “legacy work”, combining decades of educational experience with a future-focused vision for children.

What Makes ProEd Global School Different?
ProEd Global School already had a strong foundation before joining the Genius Group.
The school is known for:
- A strong Cambridge curriculum foundation
- A supportive parent community
- Diverse international student representation
- Personalized learning pathways
- Inclusive education support
- Entrepreneurial and future-focused learning
The school currently operates across two Bali campuses:
Umalas Campus
The Umalas campus supports students from early years through secondary education and includes the specialized Towards Independence program for diverse learners.

Nuanu Campus
Located within the innovative Nuanu City development, this campus is part of the broader future vision connected to Genius City. Together, the campuses welcome students from ages 3 through GCSE and A-Level pathways.

A School Built Around Individual Strengths
One of the strongest themes throughout the conversation was personalization.
Rather than treating every student the same, ProEd Global School focuses on understanding each child individually.
According to Angie: “Every student has their own personalised learning plan that starts with what they’re good at.”
The school combines the Cambridge curriculum with:
- Personalized learning journeys
- Passion-based projects
- Genius missions
- Strength-based education
- Student ownership of learning
The goal is to help students learn faster and more meaningfully by connecting learning with their interests and intrinsic motivation.
Instead of asking: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
The school first asks: “Who are you?”
Students complete tools such as:
- Genius Quizzes
- Passion Tests
- Purpose Tests
These are designed to help students better understand:
- Their strengths
- Leadership style
- Learning preferences
- Personal interests
- Future pathways
The philosophy draws inspiration from concepts like Ikigai, helping students discover the intersection between what they love, what they’re naturally good at, and how they can contribute meaningfully to the world.

Preparing Students for the Future
A major topic during the interview was the rapidly changing future of work and the rise of AI. Angie emphasized that education can no longer focus only on exams and memorization.
Instead, schools must prepare students for:
- Creativity
- Adaptability
- Entrepreneurship
- Communication
- Self-awareness
- Problem-solving
- Lifelong learning
“We need to prepare students for the world they will live in, not the world we lived in,” Angie explained. The vision is not simply to produce high academic achievers, but students who:
- Know themselves deeply
- Understand their strengths
- Can communicate confidently
- Create opportunities for themselves
- Build meaningful careers and lives
As Angie explained: “Our students will be able to create their own opportunities because they know who they are and what they have to offer the world.”

The Future of Genius City and Nuanu
One of the most exciting developments discussed was the future high school planned within Genius City at Nuanu. Construction is already underway, with plans for the new Genius High School to open within the next few years. Unlike traditional school environments, the vision is to create: “A school within a playground — not a playground within a school.”
The Genius City environment will provide students with access to:
- Robotics programs
- Creative arts
- Entrepreneurship opportunities
- Glassblowing workshops
- Innovation labs
- Camps and immersive learning experiences
- Connections with global entrepreneurs and creators
By integrating students into a wider community of innovators and creators, the school hopes to expand children’s sense of possibility and future potential. For many families relocating to Bali, this represents an entirely different model of education.

A New Chapter in International Education
ProEd Global School is a Cambridge-accredited international school in Bali serving students aged 3–18. With students from more than 40 nationalities and over 100 educators and teaching staff, the school has already supported more than 1,000 students since its founding.
Students also have access to a wide range of co-curricular opportunities across arts, music, sports, technology, science, wellbeing, and entrepreneurship, supported by a team of more than 100 educators and teaching staff.
The partnership with Genius Group expands this vision even further.
Genius Group (NYSE: GNS) is an AI-powered education company supporting more than 5 million students and entrepreneurs across 200+ countries.
Together, the organisations are creating a model that blends Cambridge curriculum pathways with future skills education, AI literacy, entrepreneurship, personalized learning, and real-world project experiences.

Three Scholarships, One Vision
Each scholarship programme focuses on a different dimension of student potential — from academic promise and entrepreneurial thinking to community impact and accessibility.
Genius School Scholarship
This scholarship is designed for globally-minded students interested in future-focused learning.
Applicants are asked: “If you could learn Future Skills (like AI, Robotics & Entrepreneurship), what impact would you want to make in the world?”
The Genius School Scholarship includes one full scholarship covering 100% of tuition fees, along with 20 partial scholarships offering 25% tuition support.
The scholarship is open to students aged 7–18 worldwide. No prior connection to Bali or ProEd Global is required, and current students are also eligible to apply.
According to the school, the focus is not on creating a perfectly polished application, but on the originality, creativity, and clarity of the student’s ideas.

Genius Bali Scholarship
The Genius Bali Scholarship was created to support Indonesian children who may not otherwise have access to a Cambridge international education. The programme offers 10 full scholarships covering 100% tuition, including six primary school places and four middle school places.
Importantly, there is no academic entrance test. Instead, the school is looking for children who are curious, engaged, motivated to grow, and excited to learn. Families and community members are both welcome to nominate students.
As Angie explained during the interview, the scholarship programme reflects the school’s commitment to supporting the local Balinese and Indonesian community. “We belong to this community, and we want to serve it as well.”

Genius Nuanu Scholarship
The Genius Nuanu Scholarship is designed specifically for families building their future within Nuanu Creative City. The programme includes one full scholarship covering 100% tuition, along with 10 partial scholarships offering 25% tuition support.
The scholarship is available to families who have purchased, or are in the process of purchasing, a home in Nuanu Creative City. It is open to students from Early Years through to Year 11.
According to the school, the scholarship recognises families who are choosing to build their lives within the Nuanu community and ensures their children’s education is part of that long-term vision.

Why Families Are Paying Attention
For many relocating families, ProEd Global represents more than just another international school in Bali.
The combination of Cambridge academics, personalized learning, entrepreneurial education, AI literacy, inclusive support, and access to the wider Nuanu and Genius City ecosystem creates something uniquely aligned with the future of education.
The school’s approach recognises that success today is no longer defined only by exam results. Students also need adaptability, creativity, communication skills, leadership, self-awareness, and real-world problem-solving abilities. And perhaps most importantly, students need the confidence to understand who they are and what they can contribute to the world.

Supporting Diverse Learners
The conversation also highlighted ProEd Global’s commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
The Umalas campus features a specialized Towards Independence program designed to help students thrive through individualized support.
The school takes a strength-based approach to learning. Rather than focusing on limitations, educators work to identify and grow each child’s existing strengths and capabilities. According to Angie: “Every child is a unique genius.”
This philosophy allows the school to support:
- Academic learners
- Creative learners
- Neurodiverse students
- Students with individualized learning needs
- Children who thrive in non-traditional learning environments
What Kind of Student Graduates from Genius School?
Toward the end of the interview, Simone asked an important question: What kind of student will graduate from the Genius School in Bali?
Angie’s answer reflected the entire philosophy behind the school. Graduates will leave with:
- Strong self-awareness
- Confidence
- Purpose
- Academic foundations
- Entrepreneurial thinking
- Communication skills
- Adaptability
- The ability to create opportunities for themselves
Most importantly, students will understand:
- Who they are
- What they care about
- What they can contribute to the world
